
U Mobile, ZTE to spur digital transformation in East Malaysia with AI-enhanced 5G-A network solutions and intelligent 5G-enabled industrial campuses
**U Mobile and ZTE Collaborate to Develop 5G-Enabled Industrial Campus Framework in East Malaysia**
U Mobile, Malaysia’s newest 5G network provider, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ZTE Corporation, a leading global provider of integrated information and communications technology solutions. This partnership aims to co-develop a 5G-enabled industrial campus framework to drive digitalisation and build scalable intelligent campus models that will spur industry-wide adoption across East Malaysia.
The signing ceremony took place at the GSMA Digital Nation Summit Kuala Lumpur (ASEAN Edition) and was witnessed by notable figures including Teo Nie Ching, Deputy Minister of Communications; Mohamad Salim bin Fateh Din, Chairman of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC); and Mano Verabathran, Deputy Secretary General, Ministry of Communications.
Under the terms of the MoU, U Mobile and ZTE will collaborate to develop AI-enhanced 5G-Advanced (5G-A) network solutions tailored to meet the specific industry requirements in East Malaysia. U Mobile will leverage ZTE’s AI-enabled 5G-A technologies to address the region’s diverse geographic and environmental challenges, ensuring stable network coverage alongside reliable, high-quality services essential for businesses.
Alongside network development, both companies will jointly work on crafting an Intelligent 5G-enabled Industrial Campus framework designed to accelerate the digitalisation of industries. They plan to identify pilot locations in East Malaysia where these solutions can be trialed and validated. The projects will incorporate AI integration and network slicing technologies to enable smarter operations and improve efficiency.
The ultimate goal of this collaboration is to create replicable deployment models of intelligent campuses that can drive wider adoption of 5G innovations across various industries in the region.
