MP News: Relative Arrested For Raping 16-Year-Old Girl In Gwalior
**Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): 16-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Raped, Blackmailed by Distant Relative**
A 16-year-old girl from Gwalior was allegedly raped by a distant relative, who also blackmailed her with obscene videos. The accused, identified as Pawan Kushwaha, lured the minor under the pretext of visiting a temple but instead took her to a nearby forest and sexually exploited her.
According to reports, the crime took place in the Chinaur area of Bhitarwar. Kushwaha, who was a distant relative of the victim, used to visit her house frequently. He confessed his love to the minor and promised to marry her.
The situation escalated when the minor was alone at her sister’s house. Kushwaha took advantage of the opportunity to allegedly sexually exploit her and recorded obscene videos without her consent. When the girl stopped meeting him, the accused began threatening to make the photos and videos viral to blackmail her.
The crime did not end there. Kushwaha arrived on his bike and again lured her with the promise of visiting the Dhumeshwar temple. Instead of going to the temple, he took her to a nearby forest and raped her again.
Terrified by the repeated assault and blackmail, the girl confided in her family. They promptly filed a formal complaint against Kushwaha at the Chinaur police station. Acting swiftly, the police registered a case of rape under the BNS and POCSO Act and launched a manhunt to apprehend the accused.
An informer’s tip led the police to Kushwaha’s brother-in-law’s residence in Chak Kishanpur village, where he was arrested. Station in-charge Shailendra Gurjar took immediate action to detain the accused.
Commenting on the case, CSP Gwalior Robin Jain stated, “The heinous crime was committed by the victim’s distant relative, whom she had known for the last two years. The girl stayed in a hostel and was raped twice.”
The investigation is ongoing, and further legal proceedings are underway.
