**UPI Payment Rules Update: Key Changes Effective November 3**

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has announced a significant update to the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) settlement cycles, set to take effect from November 3, 2025. The new rules introduce a separation between authorized and dispute transactions during the settlement process.
**Changes to Settlement Cycles**
Currently, UPI processes 10 settlement cycles per day via Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS), with each cycle handling both authorized and disputed settlements together. However, due to the massive growth in transaction volumes, NPCI has decided to segregate these transactions to improve operational efficiency and ensure timely completion of daily settlements.
Under the updated framework:
– Settlement cycles 1 to 10 will exclusively process authorized transactions; no disputed transactions will be included in these cycles.
– Dispute-related settlements will be processed separately during settlement cycles 11 and 12, which will occur twice daily and handle only dispute transactions.
NPCI has emphasized that this change will not affect the existing cut-over timings or RTGS posting schedules.
**Extension of Deadline for Revoking Autopay Mandates**
In another important development, NPCI has extended the deadline for revoking all autopay mandates linked to the former @paytm UPI ID handles. The new deadline for users to revoke these mandates is October 31, 2025. This extension aims to provide additional time for users to smoothly transition away from the @paytm UPI ID handles.

These updates reflect NPCI’s ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency and reliability of UPI transactions amid increasing adoption and transaction volumes. Users and businesses are advised to familiarize themselves with these changes and ensure timely compliance.
