The mortal remains of legendary Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, aged 52, have begun their final journey to his residence in Kahilipara, Guwahati. On Sunday morning, the convoy carrying his casket departed from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, with thousands of fans lining the streets to pay their last respects.

### Arrival of the Body

The flight carrying Garg’s remains arrived from Delhi at 7:00 AM. The casket was carefully taken from the luggage section and placed near the runway. His wife, Garima Saikia Garg, paid floral tributes and draped an Assamese ‘gamosa’ over the coffin as a mark of respect. The casket was then placed inside an ambulance decked with marigold and jasmine flowers.

### Fans’ Tribute

As the ambulance exited the airport through the VIP gate, a massive crowd of devoted fans gathered outside to honor the singer. Many held cut-outs of Zubeen Garg, along with traditional Assamese ‘gamosa’ embroidered with the words “Z G (Zubeen Garg) Forever.” Fans sang his popular songs and chanted “Jai Zubeen Da” as the convoy slowly moved through the crowd, creating a deeply emotional atmosphere.

### Convoy Details

Zubeen Garg’s favorite open jeep, which he frequently used to travel to his performances, was included in the procession. A large portrait of the singer adorned the front of the vehicle, and his team of musicians accompanied it. Assam’s Director General of Police, Harmeet Singh, and Guwahati Police Commissioner, Parthasarathi Mahanta, were seen walking ahead of the ambulance to ensure the route was clear.

### Public and Family Homage

The mortal remains will be kept at Zubeen Garg’s residence in Kahilipara for about one and a half hours, allowing family members—including his 85-year-old ailing father—to pay their final respects. Afterward, the body will be taken to the Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex for public homage, which will continue until 7:00 PM.

### Passing Away

Zubeen Garg passed away on Saturday while swimming in Singapore without a life jacket, leaving a void in the hearts of his fans and the music community.

Assam mourns the loss of one of its brightest stars as thousands come together to celebrate his legacy and bid him a heartfelt farewell.
