
Man (40s) dies following accident at motocross event in Cork
A motorcyclist has died following an accident at a motocross event at Vernon Mount in Cork city. Gardaí and paramedics from the National Ambulance Service attended the scene at around 12:45 pm on Sunday.
The man, who was in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. It is understood that he was from Co Cork. A postmortem examination will be carried out at Cork University Hospital. Gardaí have launched an investigation, and the Coroner has been informed; an inquest will be held in due course.
The scene of the accident is being preserved for a technical examination, with investigations ongoing.

In a separate incident, a man in his 40s who died following an accident involving a dumper truck in Co Cork will be laid to rest tomorrow, Monday.
Stuart Daly of Knonagraigue, Corofin, Co Clare, died on Thursday after he was struck by a dumper truck at Church Road in Ballycotton, Co Cork. He was working in the area when the accident occurred. Emergency services and Gardaí rushed to the scene, and Mr. Daly was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
His body was taken to Cork University Hospital, where a postmortem examination was carried out. Garda forensic collision investigators examined the scene, and the Health and Safety Authority along with Gardaí are investigating the incident.
Mr. Daly, who previously also lived in Ennis, is survived by his wife Alison, their son Dorian, his mother Trish, three sisters, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
His funeral mass will take place at St. Brigid’s Church in Corofin at 11 am tomorrow, with burial following at Laghtagoona Cemetery.
