The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) workers of hurling abuses at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother during a rally led by RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav.
The incident allegedly took place during Yadav’s “Bihar Adhikar Yatra,” which commenced on September 16 from Jehanabad and concluded on September 20 in Vaishali. The BJP shared a video on social media claiming it showed RJD workers abusing PM Modi and his mother while Yadav was speaking at the rally.
**Political Backlash: BJP Leaders Demand Apology**
BJP leaders have strongly condemned the alleged abuse. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary accused Tejashwi Yadav of encouraging RJD workers to insult PM Modi’s mother, describing it as an assault on Bihar’s culture. He warned, “The mothers and sisters of Bihar will surely hold him accountable for this thuggish mentality and abusive behavior.”
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai also criticized Yadav, drawing comparisons to mythological figures “Kans” and “Kaliya Naag,” known for their tyrannical traits.
**RJD Denies Allegations, Calls Them ‘False’**
The RJD has firmly denied the allegations, stating that no abusive language was used during Yadav’s rally. Dr. Mukesh Roushan, an RJD MLA from Mahua, Bihar, claimed that the video shared by the BJP was doctored with the intent to defame the party ahead of the upcoming state elections.
He added that Yadav’s full speech is available on a Facebook video he shared, confirming that no abusive words were directed at PM Modi or his mother.
**Past Controversy: Similar Incident During Rahul Gandhi’s Yatra**
This is not the first time such an incident has stirred controversy in Bihar’s politically charged environment. Last month, during Rahul Gandhi’s “Voter Adhikar Yatra” in Darbhanga district, a man allegedly abused PM Modi’s late mother from the stage.
PM Modi responded strongly to that incident, saying, “Princes born in royal families won’t understand the suffering of an underprivileged mother and her son’s struggles.” He further added that while he might forgive once, Bihar and India do not tolerate insults against mothers.

The recent allegations come amid rising political tensions ahead of Bihar’s elections, adding fuel to an already heated environment. Both parties remain steadfast in their positions as the debate continues to unfold.
