**Kapil Sharma’s Show Faces Legal Trouble Over Baburao Character Usage**

Comedian and actor Kapil Sharma’s show, *The Great Indian Kapil Show*, is currently embroiled in a legal dispute after Firoz Nadiadwala, the producer of the cult classic *Hera Pheri*, sent a legal notice worth Rs 25 crore to Netflix and the show’s makers. The notice concerns the portrayal of the iconic Baburao character in an upcoming episode featuring Akshay Kumar.

The controversy arose following the release of a promo in which comedian Kiku Sharda is seen dressed as Baburao, originally played by Paresh Rawal in *Hera Pheri*. According to News18, Firoz Nadiadwala’s legal notice accuses Netflix and the show’s producers of unauthorized use of the Baburao character.

### Legal Notice Demands Immediate Action

In the notice, Nadiadwala demanded the immediate removal of the Baburao act from all social media platforms, the upcoming episode, and any third-party channels. Additionally, he requested a written undertaking that the character will not be used henceforth without proper authorization. An official apology was also demanded to be issued within 24 hours.

### Baburao: The Soul of Hera Pheri

In an official statement, Firoz Nadiadwala emphasized the importance of the Baburao character, saying,

*”Baburao is not just a character, but the soul of Hera Pheri. This legacy was built with our sweat, vision, and creativity. Paresh Rawal ji nurtured the role with his heart and soul. No one has the right to misuse it for commercial gain. Culture is not for exploitation; it is for preservation.”*

### Copyright and Trademark Infringement Allegations

The legal notice cites multiple violations, including copyright infringement under Section 51 of the Copyright Act, 1957, and trademark infringement under Section 29 of the Trademarks Act. Baburao is a registered trademark owned by the Nadiadwala family. Furthermore, the complaint references Section 14 of the Copyright Act, which protects the exclusive right to publicly communicate a work and its usage in films.

### Current Status

As of now, the makers of *The Great Indian Kapil Show* have not issued any statement regarding the legal notice or the allegations raised by Firoz Nadiadwala.
