NVIDIA (NVDA) & Intel (INTC) announce collab on consumer PCs & AI development
NVIDIA and Intel have announced a major collaboration that will combine their technology and resources over the next few years. This strategic partnership aims to develop new and improved AI datacenters, as well as a range of consumer PC products.
As part of the deal, NVIDIA will invest heavily in Intel by purchasing approximately $5 billion worth of stock in the company. This investment reflects NVIDIA’s confidence in Intel’s potential and signals a deeper commitment to their joint efforts.
The news of this collaboration was first reported in a press release on Intel’s newsroom webpage. According to the announcement, NVIDIA will supply Intel with advanced technology for building AI servers and datacenters. Additionally, NVIDIA will provide system-on-a-chip (SoC) components for upcoming consumer PC products.
Regarding the stock purchase, NVIDIA plans to acquire Intel common stock at a price of $23.28 per share. However, this part of the deal is still pending the fulfillment of closing conditions and approval from regulatory authorities.
While NVIDIA has remained at the forefront of the tech market—leveraging its investments in AI hardware manufacturing alongside its strong lineup of consumer PC GPUs and CPUs—Intel has faced challenges. The company has struggled to keep pace as competitors surpassed it in both consumer markets and advancements in datacenter and AI technologies.
Intel’s position improved slightly when the US government acquired a 10 percent stake in the company. However, Intel warned that this investment might negatively affect its international sales and could dilute existing shareholders.
Despite its global success, NVIDIA is not without challenges. The company is currently dealing with stringent regulations and faces restricted business operations in China.
This collaboration between two tech giants promises significant innovation in AI and consumer computing, and the industry will be watching closely as the partnership develops.
