Flower fields in Lompoc enjoy light rain

Much of the morning rain appearing on the Vandenberg Space Force Base Doppler radar didn’t actually reach the ground. This phenomenon, known as virga, occurs when rain evaporates in the lower levels of the atmosphere before making contact with the surface.

Despite this, measurable rainfall is still expected across much of the Central Coast today. Residents should prepare for wet conditions as the weather system moves through the area.
